Woe is Lettering

April 24th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I think I finally got lettering down. Lettering is key to web design. Without a good logo, or brand, your design flops. Would Resident Evil be the successful game it is without its trademarked lettering? Yes, but not quite as successful. Leslie and I were talking, and I realized I think I have it. Before I was stuck–confined–to sans-serif fonts (e.g. Arial) and heavy drop shadow. I would try twenty fonts and always come back to Eurostile, my drug of choice. But recently, the past four or five layouts–GDG’s recent draft, the environmental website, portfolio, this blog even–I’ve branched out. It’s been rewarding.

Now I just have to tackle more dynamic coding.
